Like most other racing games, movement in Hill Climb Racing 2 is controlled by two pedals located on both sides of the screen. The left pedal is the brake, while the right one is the accelerator. You can hide the pedals, too. To do this, Go Settings >> Tap Configure Controls >> Tap Hide Pedals .

  • Pressing the brake will slow down your vehicle until it stops, but if you keep holding your vehicle will start going backwards.
  • Pressing the accelerator will drive your vehicle forward.
  • Pressing both pedals will stop your vehicle to a stationary position, it won't roll backwards or forwards.

These controls take on additional functionality when the car is airborne:

  • Pressing the accelerator in the air will cause the front of your car to lift and pivot on the central axis, potentially allowing you to do a backflip.
  • Pressing the brake in the air will cause the rear of your car to lift and pivot on the central axis, potentially allowing you to do a front flip.

The air controls must be mastered in order to land correctly after a jump and to correct vehicle orientation on bumps and slopes. Additionally, you can equip the Air Control tuning part to allow for better control in the air and do more flips.

Some of the vehicles and tuning parts activate special and unique functions when both pedals are pressed and/or held at the same time. Such vehicles and tuning parts are explained in details here:

Some vehicles and tuning parts allow a third level of functionality to be activated. These are:

Vehicles :[]

  • Bus: Holding both pedals for about 2.5 seconds will activate "Rest mode" which will lower the suspension. This feature won't work while airborne.
  • Tractor: Pressing both pedals will change the position of its shovel. The shovel has three positions that repeat after you go through all of them. The positions are- Loose, Forward and Overhead respectively.
  • Lowrider: Pressing both pedals will activate the hydraulics which allows you to make a huge jump. You need to drive forward in contact with the ground to recharge the hydraulics. They can be activated at any moment, even when airborne.
  • Muscle Car: Holding both pedals for 2.5 seconds or more does a full burnout which gives you a major grip boost. Less than 2.5 seconds would give a smaller boost. You need to stationary to do a burnout. You do not need to hold both pedals at the start of a race for a head start.
  • Moonlander: Holding both pedals will activate the thrusters. However, if you hold down the pedals during the cups countdown for 1 second, it will activate the Blue (Speed Form), but the B.R.A.I.N. would have to be at least level 2. If you have the thrusters and B.R.A.I.N. maxed out and hold down the pedals till the countdown ends, you'll be able to detach the cabin from the wheels. The disadvantage is that you will die immediately if you touch anything (unless you have Dome Glide Mastery level active).
  • Hoverbike: Holding both pedals will activate the thrusters.
  • Sled, and Doughnut Pressing both pedals on these vehicles will make you do a small jump.
  • Snowboard: Pressing both pedals on this vehicle will make you do a small jump. But if you press it for a while it will make a big jump.

Unique :[]

  • CC-EV: CC-EV has a boost that recharges while the wheels are spinning and while braking. Like Lowrider's hydraulics, you can activate the boost anytime you want, but it's the strongest when fully charged. Unlike others, you'll have to hold any one pedal and double tap the other one.
  • Snowmobile: Feather both pedals (Simultaneously press them in small intervals) to glide on water.
  • Rotator: Press the Brake pedal and hold it while coming in contact with the ceiling to drive on it.
  • Raider: Hold the brake pedal and double tap the gas pedal to release the spare wheel.
  • Bolt: Hold both pedals in mid-air to activate the kinetic boost and lock the air control.
  • Supercar: Hold both pedals to activate air brake. additionally, having the first mastery will lock the air while holding the both pedals.

Tuning Parts :[]

  • Jump Shocks: Pressing both pedals will allow you to do a jump at any time. You can pair it with Wings and/or Landing boost to increase your speed. Jump Shocks can only be used once per second.
  • Thrusters: Holding both pedals will allow you to fly at the cost of very high fuel consumption (The higher the level of Thrusters, The higher the fuel consumption).


Additional control:[]

In addition to the brake and gas pedals, some vehicles and tuning parts has an additional button that does not connected to pedals. Those buttons allow the vehicles and tuning parts activate their abilities without using pedals. You can adjust the buttons size and location through Configure Controls. Those vehicles and tuning parts are listed below:

  • Nitro: Launches a powerful boost when used. Nitro is chargeable tuning part, when collecting fuel cans, any excess fuel will fill the nitro, the bigger the charge, better the boost. Once it used, it had to be recharged again to use. Additionally, doing a Perfect Start will charge 50% of the Nitro. you also can't use nitro when its only charged less than %10.
  • Glider: Glider has a slow but long-lasting propeller boost, with the in-built wings it has, glider can fly far away easily. Unlike the nitro, the propeller boost charges by itself, it charges fully around 14.5 seconds, however you can use it anytime you want, just with the less time. Doing a perfect start also charges the boost by 50%. When Glider out of fuel, propeller no longer charges until the fuel can obtained again but you still can use the boost if you have boost left before the fuel runs out.
  • ATV: ATV launches a Grappling hook when the button used, the hook will pull the vehicle to the hooked point, Which allow the vehicle to speed up, climb the hills and more. This button does not need a charge unlike other ones, it can be useable at anytime when the atv has fuel, with no cooldowns. When vehicle runs out of fuel, the hook will be useable only once until the next fuel can obtained.
