Cups are small sets of 1 to 4 races on separate tracks within a fixed location. At the end of each race, you are awarded points based on your finishing position. The following list shows how many points you get for placing a certain time:

- 1st Place: 3 points

- 2nd Place: 2 points

- 3rd Place: 1 point

- 4th Place: 0 points

Note: The race times shown in-game are simplified for visual purposes. The actual calculation uses more digits than what is shown. If you appear to have the exact same time as someone above or below you in your final position, but are not tied, then remember this.

These points are tallied at the end of the cup and the person with the most points is declared the winner. The following list shows the maximum amount of points that 1 player can have at the end of a race:

  • 1st place on a 1-Track cup: 3
  • 1st place on a 2-Track cup: 6
  • 1st place on a 3-Track cup: 9
  • 1st place on a 4-Track cup: 12

When you die in one of the tracks, the game will instead count your distance compared to other participants and give you a score based on that, so always try to drive as far as possible.

Players that die on a track can be distinguished by their black flag with a skull on it, along with a "--.--.---" at the end of a race.

Racing the Cups

You can race a cup by tapping the "Race" button in the "Cups" tab, season section. The currently displayed cup will be the one you are scheduled to race. The different cups are unlocked upon reaching different player ranks. For example; If you are Bronze III you will not yet be able to race in the cups that require Gold II ranking. To unlock additional cups, you will need to race the cups available to you until you have gained enough experience to rank up to the appropriate level.

You may also Free Race any cup for fun, or track within a cup that you have unlocked in Time Trial mode. Simply scroll down on the "Cups" section of the "Cups" tab, and choose your favourite track to set a blazing fast time on! Please note that Freely Racing cups or playing Time Trial will not increase your player rank. The only way to do that is to race the scheduled, ranked cups.

Season-Exclusive Cups

Season Cups are the cups that are unlocked upon reaching Legendary and thereby unlocking Seasons. Season-Exclusive Cups are randomly-generated Cups that are picked for the season, which means that they are the only ones scheduled to players to race for that season. You can see which cups are season-only cups (Cups that are unlocked after reaching Legendary) in the table above.

Road To Legendary

When you first install Hill Climb Racing 2, you will start off on the Road to Legendary, where you will need to play cups to win prizes, like new cups, vehicles, and occasional chests. As you play cups, your points and rank will increase, allowing you to get better rewards from chests. You will progress through 6 ranks: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Legendary. For each rank (except Legendary), there are 3 levels, I, II, and III. As you progress from one rank to another, you will need to face Bosses (More info below). Once you surpass Legendary, you will unlock "Seasons", a new type of trophy Road that resets every month with even better rewards. Once you get to Legendary, you cannot go back to Diamond III, so the Road To Legendary disappears forever.

Fun Fact: You can buy Premium Pass with real money to unlock extra prizes along the Road To Legendary, like Coins, Gems, looks, paints, and parts. The Pass lasts as long as it takes for you to reach Legendary. Premium Pass is indicated by a purple glow on the "Cups" tab.

Daily Wins

Every day you will be given "Missions", opportunities to unlock a red chest inside the "Cups" season section menu. This is unlocked after you have placed first on 10 Separate Tracks. For each Track within a Cup that you finish first, you will get one medal, regardless of whether you finish first in the overall Cup series. (Note: It is possible to finish first in a Cup, based on your overall standing, but get no medals, if you didn't finish first in any of the Tracks. Because the medal actually sits slightly in front of the finish line, it is also possible to collect the medal without winning the Track). Once you have 10 medals, the chest will be unlocked. If you don't fill the red chest with 10/10 medals in the given time, you can continue the next day, because the amount of chests that you can unlock can stack up to 2. The red chest has unknown probabilities of parts, coins, gems, customizations, and driver animations.

Note: In addition to the Cups missions, it is also possible to collect medals towards unlocking the red chest by winning Tracks in the "Unranked Mode" of the Cups section (But not for playing Time Trials) in that section.

Bosses

While playing cups, and progressing through the trophy Road, you will encounter AI generated bosses before progressing ranks (For example: Challenger III to Master I.) More info on bosses here.

Tasks

Tasks are auto-generated missions you can do to get rewards. One type of task involves winning races. You will either have to win races freely (With Any Vehicle) or win races with a specific vehicle. There are 2 ways to complete these types of tasks: Play the scheduled cups, or play "Unranked mode" Cups and place 1st on a race. You cannot complete these tasks via Time Trial mode. When you complete the win races task, you will be given 3000 coins, a bronze chest and 100 rank points or 6000 coins, a Vehicle specific bronze chest and 100 rank points. More information about tasks can be found here.

Cup Points

When playing cups, you also earn Season or Road To Legendary points. The following places result in the following points:

1st place - +200-300 points (Depending on the Win Streak)

2nd place - +150 points

3rd place - +100 points

4th place - 0 points
