Hill Climber is one of the vehicles available in the game Hill Climb Racing 2.

Overview[]

Bill Newton's iconic red Hill Climber. It can handle anything!

The Hill Climber (also called as jeep and baby jeep), which is Bill Newton's trusty car, is the very first vehicle unlocked. When you first install the game, you will play the tutorial map with this vehicle. The vehicle will be partless and unupgraded, so it will be slow and hard to control. It looks somewhat identical to its counterpart from the previous game, Hill Climb Racing. There is a rare paint which you can equip that is exactly the same as the original.

The car is very small and easy to drive, but can be slowed down from hard landings. Its engine is also weak until it is upgraded. It serves well in the first steps of the game, but it is meant to be replaced with a more powerful vehicle as you progress. Still, it is a well balanced vehicle and works fine, more on adventures than in races due to its top speed of 21.67 m/s (78 km/h); unless you use Tuning Parts, of course.

This vehicle is somewhat good in adventure, as it can climb hills decently well at high levels and it has a moderate fuel duration of 40 seconds (along with Rally Car). The vehicle also has a lot of really powerful and useful parts, which helps.

Despite being the starter vehicle, it is one of the best vehicles to use with the Wings, Jump Shocks and Landing Boost part combination (Commonly known as the 'Kangaroo' setup), which has greatly improved the functionality of this vehicle. Its closely spaced wheels helps to get perfect landings more easily with good suspension than other vehicles (except Scooter), so it is a good vehicle for beginners to master the 'Kangaroo', thanks to the powerful Jump Shocks and Landing Boost. The vehicle is also really good in Cups and Time Trials, due to its Kangaroo, good Start Boost, Thrusters, and Fuel Boost.

Masteries[]

In the 1.63.0 Update, Fingersoft added some buffs for Hill Climber. These buffs can be unlocked after maxing out the vehicle's tunes. Said buffs make the vehicle better in various ways.

Mastery Icon Description Gained changes
Mega Parts Mastery Mega Parts +10% power to all tuning parts All part strength: +10%
Overdrive Mastery Overdrive Increased top speed Boost Speed: 80 -> 100
Rev Surge Mastery Rev Surge Increased acceleration Air Control: 85 -> 150
Extra Part Mastery Extra Part Unlocks the 4th tuning part slot +1 Tuning Slot

Originally being a very part-dependent vehicle, the first mastery buff would massively increase Hill Climber's performance in both Time Attack and adventure. The overdrive and rev boost would also help bring up its low top speed. Overall, the Hill Climber's masteries are well balanced with it get a decently large buff while still not being too overpowered.

Customizations[]

See Vehicle Paints List for pictures and more information.

The Hill Climber has 22 different paints and 14 different wheels that can be obtained (VIP paint and wheels aren't included, but you can get it with VIP subscription). After starting the game, it has free red, blue-yellow, blue and green paints and two variation wheels to start with.
